Process

Research

People aime to do the right thing – but if they don't know that what their doing is wrong there's no way to correct it.
There is a desire to visit new destinations, but for convenience and ignorance of alternative destinations, travelers still choose overheated places.

Key insights

Giving travelers an alternative – a greener way to explore the world.

Solution

Make travelers aware of other travel choices and give them a greater understanding of how they can contribute to a sustainable tourism. Inspire travelers to choose alternative destinations and increase their willingness to contribute to the local economy during their journey.

Google Kinda counteracts overtourism with the help of the “did you mean"-function, thereby redirecting travelers to alternative destinations and local merchants instead of international giants.

It's a win-win-win! For the locals, for Google and for the enviroment.
